Some kids these days don’t know when they’re stepping over the line.

A group of Arizona high school students thought it would be funny to wear shirts which spelling out a racial slur. The students posted for a group picture which spelled out “NIGGER”.

The picture quickly went viral and sparked criticism of the students and the school administrators. After the picture became very popular, a heavy police presence was seen around the school campus probably because of fear that there might be physical retaliation from the black community. There were also reports of physical confrontations between some black students and the students who posed for the picture.

The principal of the school sent letters to the parents of the students, denouncing their actions.

“Those actions do not represent who we are as a campus,”  the principle wrote. “We can assure you we will discipline these students in accordance with district policy and our student handbook. While we don’t discuss individual discipline, we can tell you that in addition, the obvious need for sensitivity training will be addressed.”

There’s no official word on if the students are to be suspended or expelled. Expulsion would seem to be the best option in this case.

Some people out there would argue that black people say the N word all the time. Frankly, that excuse is becoming very tiring. The whole debate on why black people can say the N word and white people can’t is simply stupid at this point.

The students who wore those T-shirts should be expelled. Pure and simple. If black students did this, I feel the reaction would a bit more dramatic.
