White Wash, White Flop: Hollywood At It Again With “Gods Of Egypt”

Gods Of Egypt

Deja vu?

A few weeks ago, movie posters were unveiled for a new movie called “Gods Of Egypt”. If featured notable Hollywood actors including Gerald Butler (from the movie “300”).

A similar movie was released not too long ago and it starred Christian Bale as Moses. That movie was called “Exodus”.

Both these movies have something in common: The main casts of the movie are all WHITE.

Hollywood has a tendency to cast white actors in movies which you would think would be played by people who fit the part. Can you imagine if they did a movie about George Washington and the lead actor was played by a black man?!! Hell no.

So why are these movie executives so hellbent are trying to put in white actors to play characters in Egypt when it would be so much more fitting to cast other ethnic groups or even perhaps Egyptian actors.

It’s 2015. A black man is the President of the United States. Gay marriage is legal. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is one of the highest paid actors in America and marijuana is slowly being decriminalized.

It’s time to get with the times Hollywood executives. But the problem is, would the masses go see a movie about Gods In Egypt if they don’t recognize any of the actors? Hence, bring in the white guys everyone recognizes.

But times are changing. When the Exodus movie was released, it flopped. HARD. From the reaction on social media when the movie trailer for “Gods Of Egypt” was released, I wouldn’t be surprised to see this movie flop even harder.
