Campaign Started In Britain To Stop Donald Trump From Travelling To The Uk For Violating Hate Speech Laws

Donald Trump

Donald J Trump seems to have invincible super powers. He spews crazy utterance after crazy utterance, and the only consequence seems to be that his poll numbers go up.

This is the guy who opened his campaign with a speech branding all Mexican immigrants as rapists and criminals, and some of them, he assumed, are ‘good people’. He has since continued with other remarks against other minorities like African Americans and Muslims, which nevertheless- rather seem to make him stronger in the Republican presidential field.

A Scottish resident, Suzanne Kelly of Aberdeen, is leading a petition to call for Donald Trump to be barred from entering the UK under the nation’s hate speech laws. The petition, an online one, is directed at Britain’s House of Commons, and needs 10,000 signatures before the law making body is compelled to respond to it. If it amasses 100,000 signatures, then Parliament would be obligated to debate its contents.

“The signatories believe Donald J Trump should be banned from UK entry for his continued, unrepentant hate speech and unacceptable behaviour. His unacceptable behaviour is well documented, and we feel it foments racial, religious and nationalistic intolerance which should not be welcome in the UK.” The petition reads

“The UK has banned entry to many individuals for hate speech. This same principle should apply to Donald J Trump. We cannot see how the United Kingdom can condone his entry to the country when many people have been barred for less.”

This is not the first time Suzanne Kelly is crossing swords with Donald Trump, as she also strenuously opposed a plan by Donald Trump to build a golf course on Scotland’s historic Menie Estate, citing environmental reasons.

People banned in recent years from entering the UK on hate speech grounds include rapper Tyler the Creator and the notoriously controversial anti-Muslim campaigner Pamela Geller.

Needless to say, a ban from entering the US’ biggest allies for a presidential front runner is something that would be a mighty inconvenience, and would probably not come through. But the level of rhetoric Trump is running on, and the fact that he keeps rising in the polls rather than falling, speaks to an alarming trend in the US electorate.

And he is not even an outlier, he is the front runner!

Here are a few of Donald Trump’s greatest hits.

On Mexican migrants coming to the US.

“They’re sending us not the right people. The US has become a dumping ground for everyone else’s problems.

“They’re sending people that have lots of problems and they’re bringing their problems.

They’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists, and some I assume are good people but I speak to border guards and they tell us what we are getting.”

And here’s he calling for carte-blanche to kill civilians.

“We’re fighting a very politically correct war. The other thing with the terrorists, you have to take out their families.”

“They say they don’t care about their lives,” he added. “You have to take out their families.”
